| ALLEN, Douglas William - 86, Glen Margaret,
passed away Monday, November 21, 2005, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in
Enfield, he was a son of the late Tom and Winifred C. (Griffiths) Allen. Doug
was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas as a Lancaster Bomber
Navigator with the RCAF (RAF No. 630). He had 31 tours of operation and received
the Distinguished Flying Medal. He worked many years in the field of engineering
with the Nova Scotia Department of Highways, retiring in 1979. He was an avid
sailor and enjoyed many hours sailing on the St. Margaret's Bay. He was active
in the formation of the Scouting movement in his home community. Doug loved the
outdoors, and particularly working on his property and his boat. He will be
remembered by his family as a kind and gentle husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Gee); son, Douglas (Donna), Bonshaw, P.E.I.;
daughters, Susan (Ralph) Rickard, Dartmouth; Margaret (Scott) Sterns, Halifax;
sister, Lorna Fraser, Toronto; grandchildren, Marc, Amy, Samantha, Josey, Ellen,
Charlie; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Jennie, Maud,
Rose, Dorothy; brother, Tom. The family will receive visitors today from 3-5
p.m. at home, 60 Moser Island Rd., Glen Margaret. Funeral service will be held
11 a.m. Thursday, November 24, in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Hackett's Cove,
Rev. Irving Letto officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu
of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Garden, QEII,
