ARTHUR, Irene Mary
- The family of Irene Mary Arthur announce her peaceful passing in
Northwood Care August 21, 2008, with her family by her side. She was born
August 14, 1913, on McNab's Island to the late Russell and Sarah (Ball)
Arnett. Mom lived life to the fullest and on her own terms. Mom and Dad were
the best dancers in the world. She worked at Wood Brothers; Snairs Store,
Black Point and Canexl Plant, East River, where she retired in 1978. She was
one of the founding members of the Black Point Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary,
church work and other volunteer work. She is survived by her sons, Owen
(Maureen) Warman, Saskatchewan; Bruce (Corrine), Halifax; daughter, Mary
Jane (Fred) Dorey, Hubbards; grandchildren, Angela, Allan, Daniel, Amy,
Trevor, Erin and Avril; many great-grandchildren and one due in March; many
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gordon
in 2004; her sisters, Myra, Lillian and brother Elmer. The family will
receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, August 24, in Ronald A. Walker
Funeral Home, Hubbards. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday, August 25,
in St. Anthony's Church, Hubbards, Father Chinedu Chukwu officiating. Burial
in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. On-line
