
| ASLIN (MacLeod), Dorothy Ann - Dorothy passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2004, in Halifax. She was a daughter of the late John W. and Margaret (Ross) MacLeod (New Glasgow). Dorothy received her early education in New Glasgow, later attending Netherwood, New Brunswick and Dalhousie University, Halifax. She began her teaching career at Clark Rutherford School at HMCS Cornwallis in 1959. In 1960, she moved to Hampton Grey School at CFB Shearwater where she remained until her retirement. She was a dedicated teacher who was well-loved by her students. Dorothy's summers were spent at the cottage in Melmerby Beach. She always referred to it as "my little bit of Pictou County" and treasured her time there. After her retirement, she spent a number of winters with her daughter Ann and family in the Caribbean. Dorothy was a lifelong Progressive Conservative, an animal lover, an avid reader and crossword puzzle fan and a true friend to many. She will be missed. She is survived by daughter, Ann Redt; grandchildren, Kimberly and Jean Paul Redt; sister, Mary; nephews, Bill and Donald MacLeod and Bruce Thompson. She was predeceased by brothers, Alexander and John MacLeod. A service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Monday, October 4, at 2 p.m. in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Jim Forbes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Health Foundation - Palliative Care Unit or Bide Awhile Animal Shelter, 12 Eaton Ave., Dartmouth. Family burial at a later date. |
