BOUTILIER, Dennis Lawrence -67, Timberlea, passed away May 5, 2009, at home. Born in Hackett's Cove, he was a son of the late Stella and Wellesley Boutilier. Left to remember him are his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Mason); son, Christopher (Maritta), Lake Echo; daughters, Kathleen, Halifax; Janise (Marc Davidson), Upper Tantallon; grandchildren, Matthew and Alexander Boutilier; Rachael, Hilary and Jack Davidson, Upper Tantallon; sisters, Elizabeth Morse, Janet (David) Shaw, Clare (Reg) Morash; aunt, Helen D'Aubin, all of Hackett's Cove and many special in-laws. He was a carpenter for over 50 years, working for Cadillac Developments for more than 30 years. Dennis was a man of all seasons. In spring he loved to find remote fishing spots, carrying his small homemade boat on his shoulders, walking for miles, bringing home the catch, preparing gardens, vegetables for the family and flowers for his wife; fertilizing Christmas trees. In the summer, the earlier years spent motorcycling with his buddies, camping with family and friends; hiking, salt water fishing in St. Margaret's Bay, and golf. In fall, harvesting grapes to make wine, putting the garden to rest; harvesting Christmas trees, but hunting was a priority. Thanksgiving was spent at the Mills since 1992, with two other families, totaling up to 30, as the grandchildren arrived over the years. In winter, Dennis loved cross country skiing or snowshoeing; covering land that most folks don't get to see, and trips to the log cabin with friends. All in all, he was an outdoors person. During the four seasons, he enjoyed his family, preparing the special holiday meals. He loved his grandchildren and spent many hours with them. He bowled twice a week and was a blood donor over the years. Dennis was renovating the homestead in Hackett's Cove up to three weeks ago when he was diagnosed with cancer. We were going to move from the river in Timberlea back to the ocean in Hackett's Cove. His illness was brief and we managed to have him home where he could sit and watch the bird activity in the backyard. We want to thank Palliative Care for the wonderful support for the last several days, and words cannot thank Dr. Robert Scovil enough for Dennis' care and many home visits. The family would also like to thank the support of our good friends. Donations can be made to Palliative Care, or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A family committal will be held at a later date. A celebration of Dennis' life will be announced for late June. On-line condolences can be made to: www.rawalker.ca
