BUSSEY, Kenneth George - 63, St. Margaret's Bay. Ken passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2007. Born in Oxford, England, he was the son of the late George (Letchworth, England) and Faye (Gilchirst) (Campbelltown, Scotland) Bussey. He then moved to Shearwater as a young boy after the Second World War. He was an accomplished athlete. While attending Prince Andrew High School he played on the Dartmouth High football team. As a freshman at St. F.X. in 1963, Ken played both offence and defence and was remembered as scoring the winning touchdown as the X-men defeated U of T to become the Atlantic Bowl Champions. This team was inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame in 2003. He was especially proud of playing for Don Loney who called Ken's team the most talented team he ever coached, and also named Ken one of the top five players he ever coached. He also played two exhibition seasons with the Ottawa Roughriders. Ken was an excellent sailor, winning numerous regattas in metro and St. Margaret's Bay in the 70's on his beloved "Salty Gaels". Ken was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Canadian Army as an infantry officer. Some of his other passions were upland game hunting, paddling as a teenager at Mic Mac, annual family ski trips to Sugarloaf and later when moving his family to St. Margaret's Bay got involved in coaching and the community. Ken is survived by his children, Cal (Nancy) Bussey, St. Margaret's Bay; Pamela (Mark) Hinam, Cole Harbour; Alex (Lisa) Bussey, Truro; Gillian, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Malcolm and Georgia Bussey, Tyler and Ellie Hinam; former spouse, Terri Bussey, and best buddy, Stu Veniot. His love of the sea saw Ken retiring near the waters of St. Margaret's Bay after a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Kevin Little officiating.
