BARNES, Charles Gordon - 63, Tantallon, died of a heart attack Sunday, November 18, 2001. Born in Sherbrooke, he was the son of the late Stella Jordon and Ray Barnes. Charlie grew up in Halifax and graduated from QEHS in 1956. He and his family spent several years in Shefferville and Sept-Iles, Que., where he worked for the Iron Ore Company of Canada as manager in Data Processing. Upon his retirement from the company in 1985, he returned to Nova Scotia and worked in Real Estate until the spring of 2001. Charlie was involved in various community activities in Halifax and the St. Margaret's Bay area. He was especially well liked by all who knew him and his positive outlook and generous spirit will always be an inspiration to us all. He is survived by his wife, Hectorine; son, Raymond; daughter, Tina; granddaughter, Kathryn. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, November 23, in Cathedral Church of All Saints, Tower Road, Halifax, Rev. Randy Townsend officiating. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, will be accepted on his behalf. Arrangements entrusted to Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon.
