BOUTILIERS
POINT/DARTMOUTH - It is with deepest sorrow that we
announce the passing of our beloved husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather. Sandy passed away
peacefully on January 29, 2012, at Oakwood Terrace
Nursing Home at the age of 84. Sandy was born
on May 6, 1927, the son of Stuart and Annis
(Hamilton) Boutilier in Boutliers Point. He became a
skilled mason and was well known for his beautiful
brickwork. He worked for C.W. Stone for several
years and then went on to work for the Halifax
School Board, from where he retired. He served for
43 years with the Black Point fire department,
holding many different positions over that time. He
loved the outdoors hunting, fishing, snowmobiling
and ATV’ing with his buddies. He loved to play
Auction 45’s and crib. Sandy was always very easy
going and willing to help his neighbors whenever he
could. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63
years, Madeline (Meisner) Boutilier, son Darrell
(Kaye) Boutilier, daughter Lynn (Tom) Hatt and son
Colin (Karen) Boutilier. He is also survived by his
grandchildren, David (Kelly) Coolen, Ryan Boutilier
and Holly Boutilier, and great grandson David Joshua
Coolen. His brothers Hugh and Neil, and twins
Barbara and Brenton predeceased Sandy. He was also
predeceased by his son Lorne in 1981.
Visitation will held 4-7 p.m. Wednesday February 1.
Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday February 2, both in
the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home 13549 Peggys Cove
Road, Tantallon. Rev. Paul Findlay officiating.
Burial to follow in St James Anglican Church,
Boutliers Point. We would like to thank all the
“special” caregivers, nurses and doctors at Oakwood
Terrace for all their kindness and support. Family
flowers only. Donations may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
