| CHRISTIE, Peter Morgan Melville - 63, of Boutilier's Point, left peacefully on his final journey early Thursday morning, April 22, 2004, from the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, following a three month illness. He was a son of the late Fred and Violet (Roberts) Christie, and spent most of his life in Boutilier's Point. Peter's career was varied and during the last fifteen years he was a well-known school bus driver in the Western subsection of the HRM School District. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Gwen (Kennedy); beloved daughter, Leanne Christie (Guy Hermanson, her best friend and companion); sister, Judy McCaughey (David); older brother, Bob Roberts (Heather), both of Halifax; nephew, Dennis McCaughey (Kelsie), Timberlea; niece, Christie Vaillancourt (Stephen and daughter Kailyn), Hudson, Mass.; Bob's sons, Danny, David and Allan, Western Canada; Karen Shatford, Halifax. Peter was predeceased in 1979 by his youngest daughter, Sara Louise. His love for her was unending. Peter's love of Western Canada was well-known and, even after more than 10 trips there, his dream was for he and Gwen to spend some time every year during their retirement traveling through the mountains he loved in his beloved motor home "Gracie". Visitation will be held 5-9 p.m. today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday April 24, in St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the QEII Health Sciences Foundation in Peter's memory to purchase much needed equipment both at the Nova Scotia Rehab Hospital and the Palliative Care Wing of the VG Site, QEII. On-line donations and condolences can be made at: www.rawalker.ca May the four winds blow you peacefully home, dearest Peter. |
