| COVEY, Rufus Moriel - 86,
Hackett's Cove, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was
born on November 18, 1920, in Hackett's Cove, a son of the late Oliver and
Hazel (Richardson) Covey. Rufus was a boat builder and loved to be on and
near the waters of St. Margaret's Bay. He was a Charter member of the Royal
Canadian Legion for 59 years. Rufus was a shipwright in the Canadian Navy
and held the rank of Petty Officer. He was a veteran of the Second World
War, and he was also employed at HMCS Dockyard for 14 years. He is survived
by his sons, Michael (Dawn) and John (Cheryl); daughters, Faye (Stephen
Byrne) and Connie (David Keeping); 10 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor (Richardson), and brother, Walter. He
was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia (Hearn); second wife, Ora (Jollimore);
sisters, Muriel (Christie), Marjorie (Howett), and brother, Wilfred. There
will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held in St. Peter's Anglican
Church in Hackett's Cove on Wednesday, November 29, at 2 p.m., Rev. Irving
Letto and Rev. Rick Walsh will be officiating. A reception will be held in
the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 116 in Seabright following the service. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the QEII Foundation Palliative
