Queensland's Oldest Resident Dies At 103

 

DOREY, Sadie Aileen- 103 of Queensland died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at home. Born in Queensland, she was the daughter of the late Stanford and Rennie (Whynaught) Dauphinee. Sadie was an active member of the former St. John's Anglican Church, Queensland and served many years on the Church Guild. She took great pleasure in making quilts and hooking rugs. She was avid card player and was always ready for the opportunity to show family and friend her card skills and just last week she won her last card game. Survived by daughters; Joan and Marlene, both of Queensland; sisters, Frances Coolen, Fox Point; Gertrude Stevens, Halifax; Grandchildren, Brian Snair, Head of St. Margaret's Bay; Barbara Snair, Chester and Shelley MacDonald, Highland Park; great grandchildren; Ryan, Patti, Dori, Megan and Kyle, great great grandchildren; Mackenzie and Oliver. Predeceased by her husband Eben, daughter, Jean, brothers, Clifford and Ivan in infancy; sisters, Annie and Gladys in infancy. The family will received visitors Tuesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held Wednesday 11 a.m. both from Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbard's. Rev. Laurie Omstead, Officiating.
