| DRISKILL, Cynthia Joyce Elizabeth - 62, Hubbards, passed away Monday, November 10, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Joyce I. (Pilcher) Drope, Halifax and the late James B. Drope. Cynthia graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax. In her youth, and into middle age, she was an avid skier and sailor, a provincial and maritime ladies ski champion, and a founding member of the Canadian Ski Patrol system in Nova Scotia and also a former member of the Armdale Yacht Club, where she received many racing trophies. Cynthia attended Brigham Young University in Utah, where she met her husband Ron; she also worked as a floriculturist for several years at Olds College in Olds, Alta., and also as a cosmetologist for awhile. Until her death, she worked as the partyliner for Hubbards with CBC and as the associate editor of the Masthead News, writing some of the stories for each issue, answering the phone and doing graphic layout for the paper. She had also put together a tourism magazine, not associated with the Masthead News for a year. Cynthia was always thoughtful of others, went out of her way to help when help was needed, and even when it wasn't. Her many acts of kindness and her pleasant personality were always her trademark. She was a great mother, always making sure that she stayed on top of the different activities and adventures that could be taken by her girls, Sarah and Angela, and her family. Cynthia is dearly loved and missed by her husband, Ronald; daughters, Sarah Elizabeth (John) Noyes, Angela Marina (Jason) Covell, both of Utah; sisters, Heather and Lynda, both of Halifax; grandson, Kyle Covell.
