| DUNCAN (Fryday), Margery Meleta - 81, Hubbards,
passed away February 27, 2006. Born in Black Point, she was a daughter of the
late George and Edythe (Haley) Snair. Margery graduated from Halifax Infirmary
School of Nursing in 1944. Marge was a vibrant member of her local community.
Some of her interests and volunteer service included: membership of St.
Andrews/St. Mark's United Church, Ingramport; Past President and life member of
the UCW, Past Matron of Mystic Star Chapter No. 40 of the Order of the Eastern
Star, Past Secretary of the Canadian Pensioners Concerned, Past President of the
Provincial RCMP Veterans Women's Association, a founding member and Past
President of the Black Point Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Past President of
the Black Point Home and School Association and a lifelong Progressive
Conservative. Margery was actively involved in the management and operation of
her family's business (George O. Snair Limited). She was an independent owner
and operator of 16 rental cottages in Black Point for over 30 years. She was
predeceased by first husband, Albert Fryday, and second husband, Orval Duncan;
brother, Gerald Snair, and grandson, Alan Fryday. She is survived by sons, James
(Carol) Fryday, Black Point; Eric Fryday, Coleman's Cove; Rev. Shaun Fryday,
Montreal; Jeffrey (Gloria) Fryday, Halifax; daughters, Maureen (James) Moore,
Ingramport; Nancy (Ken) McBay, Gaspereau; Janet (Eric) Dorey, Hubbards; Marion
(Blaine) Cook, East Chester; sister, Lola Hollingum, Halifax; stepsons, Bruce
(Mary) Duncan, Chateau Village; Gary Duncan, Halifax, and Bob Duncan, Alberta.
She was a loving, caring and supportive nanny to her grandchildren, Patrick,
Lori, Anna, Laura, Bryan, Christopher, Amber, Cody, Gregory, Peter, Darcy,
Carrie, Julia, Rachael, Connor, Christian, and great-grandson, Jonah. To her
family and many friends she always provided love, encouragement, support and
compassion without hesitation. For all those who knew and loved her, Mom had a
wonderful sense of humour, a zest for life and great respect for others.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home,
13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be
held on Friday, March 3, at 2 p.m. in St. Luke's United Church, Tantallon, Rev.
Marion Innes officiating. A family committal service will follow in Pine Hill
Cemetery, Hubbards. Refreshments and fellowship to follow in Black Point
Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Nova Scotia, St. Mark's United Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of
