68 of Upper Tantallon, Passed away April 9, 2011. Born in Marriotts Cove, Lunenburg County, On June 17 1942, she was a daughter of the Late Allen H and Ruth A (Langille) Stevens. Mary was a graduate of Stenography at the Halifax Vocational School. She later worked at NS Tractors where she met her wonderful husband and got married on July 15th 1961. They built a house in Upper Tantallon where she stayed home and she and her Husband raised their 2 boys. Mary then went back to work as an excavator operator until 1997. She enjoyed reading, lunch with the girls, laughing, and Africa. She also loved to paint. Mary is survived by husband John, sons, Stephen(Michelle); Mark (Lisa); grandson Daniel(Amanda); granddaughter Caitlyn Jill (Kwasi) Brefo; sister, Pearl(Cecil) Zinck, Blandford; brothers, Peter(Beverly), Lantz; William(Janet),Winnipeg, Arthur(Deborah),Chester Basin; Paul(Sheila),Toronto; and many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial Service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 210 Parkland Drive Halifax on Thursday at 2:00pm with Harlen Levy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon. The family would like to express appreciation to Pearl who “never stopped coming”, and to everyone who came and supported Mary with their love, visits and meals.
