FINCK, Violet Mae - 108, Halifax, formerly of Ironbound, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2002, in Melville Lodge, Halifax. Born in 1894, on Big Tancook Island, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late David and Nora (Silver) Cross. She and her husband Edward were the keepers of the lighthouse on East Ironbound Island for 26 years. She was a faithful follower of the Baptist Church. She is survived by sons, Charles (Beatrice), Blandford; Joshua (Helen), Parksville, B.C.; daughters, Blanche (James) McDonald, Vancouver, B.C.; Shirley Dawson, Hammonds Plains; 13 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; daughter, Marjorie Langille; son, Roy; brothers, Charles, Forden, Hurley, Clifford, Wallace; sister, Maude; granddaughter, Colleen Finck; grandson, Kenneth McDonald. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Hwy. 333, Tantallon. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Hammonds Plains, Rev. William Woodsworth officiating. Burial to follow in St. George's Anglican Church Cemetery, Head of St. Margaret's Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Cemetery or First Baptist Church, Hammonds Plains.
