GRANT, Leroy Ormand "Norm" -84, Hubbards, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born and raised in London, Ont., Norm came to Nova Scotia in 1941 to attend the Merchant Marine School in Hubbards, where he met his lifelong sweetheart, Doris Harnish. After the war, the couple moved to Montreal, Que. and were married. Norm trained as an optician and later opened his own business. He was active in the Shriners and Masons and when he wasn't working, enjoyed cottage life on Lac St. Louis in Quebec and Mill Lake in Lunenburg Co. Many happy memories were made with family and friends. Norm retired to the Annapolis Valley in 1983, and 15 years later, returned to live in Hubbards, across the cove from where he first met his wife 57 years ago. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Harnish) Grant. He is survived by his son, Gary; his daughter-in-law, Janis (Cobb); and granddaughter, Jennifer Grant. He was a devoted father and husband.
