HARNISH, Douglas Granville- 69, of Birchy Head, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in East River, he was a son of the late Granville and Clara (Melvin) Harnish. Doug was known throughout our communities as a Master Mechanic and could fix any mechanical problem brought to his attention. Doug was a natural musician and could play pretty much any musical instrument. He was a local historian, knowing many of the local family trees and property lines throughout our communities. Doug will be remembered by his family and many friends as a quiet, gentle person and will be lovingly remembered by all. He is survived by his brother, Ronald, Hubbards; sister, Celia (Richard) Heisler, Birchy Head; nieces and nephews, Katrina, Hubbards; Richard (Karen), Birchy Head and Mary, Victoria, Dakota and Lincoln. The family will receive visitors 4-7 p.m. today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service 2 p.m. Friday from St. Mark's Anglican Church, Mill Cove, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. Burial to follow in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Fox Point.
