
| HEARTZ, Arthur Nicholson - 80, formerly of Hubbards and Bedford, passed away Friday, July 13, 2001, in Tantallon. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Anne (Nicholson) Heartz. Surviving are his wife, the former Shirly Elfreda Sims; sons, Roderick (Donna) and John (Christine); daughter, Shari (Ron) Davis; granddaughter, Jodi; grandsons, Ryan and Christin. Arthur attended Prince of Wales College and Dalhousie University. He joined the army and served overseas in the Third Division Survey Regiment and Third A/T Regiment and volunteered for Occupation. He served with the Education Section and ended in charge of Division H.Q. Rear Party in Germany. He was a member of Bedford United Church. He was recently a member of University Lodge 110, Masonic Order; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 44, Chester and the Hubbards and District Lions Club. Arthur loved music, he was active in musical circles in Halifax such as, St. Matthew's, St. Andrews, St. Paul's and finally retiring from soloist (bass) at First Baptist Church. He also worked on the formation of the Halifax Symphony Choir. Arthur retired from Fiberglass Canada Ltd. In 1979, his brother, Roderick predeceased him. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A family committal service will be held in Sims Cemetery, Sims Settlement. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson's Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Division, 5475 Spring Garden Rd., Suit 407, Halifax, NS B3J 372. |
