JOY, Frances Mildred
"Millie"- 87, Black Point, Halifax Co., passed away in Parkstone,
Halifax, Wednesday, November 11, 2009. Born in Chatham, N.B., December 15,
1921, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anne (Bracken) Fernandez.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eric A. Joy; sisters, Alice "Susie"
(Fraser), Margaret, Katherine "Kate" (Turple), Gertrude (Major) and Sister
Mary Blanche; brothers, Robert, William, Marvin and Carl. She was president
of Big Eric's Restaurant Supplies. A devote Roman Catholic, she was a member
of Saint Anthony's Parish, Hubbards, the Catholic Women's League and the
Ladies Auxilliary Black Point Fire Department. She is survived by sons,
David, Black Point; Paul (Cathy), Lower Sackville; Tony (Trudy), Black Point
and daughter, Mary Lee O'Neil (Terry), Halifax; grandchildren, Craig, Kelly
LeBlanc (Steve), Christopher, Erin, Andrew, Eric, Meghan, Cailin and
Brandon; great-granddaughter, Gabrielle. Millie was always astute in
financial matters. Her constant advice for her grandchildren was to, "Pay
yourself first." To her employees she said, "Make sure you add enough for
freight." The family wishes to thank her devoted nursing staff and
caregivers on Parkstone Princess Lane especially Tara as well as Holly,
Gillian, Nicole, Crystal and Taunya. Visitation in Ronald A. Walker Funeral
Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral
mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's followed by a
reception in the church hall. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards.
