LACEY (Schnare) (MacLellan), Evangeline Marie - 63, Lake of the Woods, Hubley, died peacefully at home with her loved ones on Wednesday, May 9, 2007. Vangie was born on July 25, 1943, at the home of Willie and Elva Sawler in Western Shore. She was the first child of Glennie (Stevens) and the late Donald Schnare (Upper Blandford). She retired from teaching when her son, Jon-David, was born. She was an exemplary mother and wife and was enjoyed by all for her sparkling wit, good humour and common sense. She had a passion for gardening and she and Glenn put so much of themselves into their home and gardens. They also enjoyed traveling together. Vangie's creative nature always had her busy with some home improvement projects. She was an accomplished artist, avid reader, devoted Roman Catholic and loved dearly to see her grandchildren. Vangie is survived by her husband of 38 years, Glenn Lacey; son, Jon-David (Monica), Toronto, Ont., and grandchildren, Patrick and Brianna. Besides her immediate family, she is also survived by her mother, Glennie Schnare, Chester; brothers and sisters, David (Cheryl) Schnare, Deep Cove; Marilyn (Lawson) Miller, Northwest Cove; Gloria (Daryl) White, Deep Cove; William (Rhonda) Schnare, Blandford; mother-in-law, Josephine Lacey, Mahone Bay; sisters-in-law, Marie Sherlock, Hubley; Majorie Lacey, Bridgewater; brothers-in-law, Laurie Lacey, Hebbs Cross; Gary Lacey, Bridgewater, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Vangie was predeceased by her first husband, Allen MacLellan; father, Donald Schnare, and niece, Melissa Schnare. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 14, in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Timberlea, Father Jim Richards officiating. A private interment will take place in St. Barnabas Anglican Church Cemetery, Blandford. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sacred Heart Church, Timberlea. A special thank you to all the medical professionals in Australia at the Coober Pedy Hospital and Royal Adelaide Hospital and the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, the VON and all the family and friends who so generously gave their time.
