
| LONG, Agnes Girvan - 95, Halifax and Hubbards, passed away September 19, 2001, in The New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in West Galloway, Kent Co., N.B., she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Girvan) MacLelland. After graduating from New Brunswick Normal College, Fredericton, she taught school for a number of years in Kent, York and Victoria Counties in New Brunswick. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and a life member of the I.O.D.E. She loved music, especially the piano and also played the organ at the William Black Memorial United Church, while residing in Glen Margaret. Surviving are daughters, Margaret (Roger) Rioux, Chilliwack, B.C.; Mary Fraser, Glen Margaret; Eleanor Long, Halifax; Martha (Mike) Merrimen, Hubbards; Norma (Joe) Martin, Bridgewater; son, William G. Long, Stoney Creek, Ont.; brother, Gordon MacLelland, Halifax; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Long, Lt. Cdr., RCN (Ret.); brothers, David and Douglas MacLelland. Cremation has taken place with arrangements under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, in William Black Memorial United Church, Glen Margaret. Interment will take place at a later date in Richibucto Cemetery, Richibucto, N.B. Family flowers only, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. |
