| MANUEL, Shirley Marguerite - 79, Ingramport. It is with great sadness that we herald the passing of our Mother, Mom, Nanny, Nan, who left us on Thursday, May 17, 2007, while under the care of the staff at QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born February 7, 1928, Mom was a daughter of the late Alfred and Mable (Hefferman) Horner (Halifax). She is survived by her sons, Edwin, Whitehorse; Wayne (Paulette), Halifax; daughters, Valerie (Brian) Cutler, Grand Lake; Joy Emmanuel, Victoria; grandchildren, Allison, Derek, Shannon, Karl, Sarah, Emily, Matthew, and sister, Doris Smith, Halifax. Mom was predeceased by her husband, Edwin "Eddie" on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, our Dad, Granddad, Papa. Separated for just two days they are with each other once again to continue their union of almost 60 years. Together they worked many long hard days to provide for their family. Other than her grandchildren, whom she loved to visit and to make smile, as they loved to make her smile, Mom's passions were baking, and in her later years, bingo. Thank you to the staff of both 8.1 and 4.1 of the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, for their care and compassion during our parents' time in the hospital. A special thank you to Paula from the QEII Social Services Department. And thank you to Belinda Marriott, who helped care for Mom and Dad during the past several months. You were our angel. Thank you can never express how we feel. Cremations have taken place. Visitation for Mom and Dad will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, May 21. Funeral services for Mom and Dad will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22. Both the visitation and service will held in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the QEII Foundation. On-line condolences can be made to: www.rawalker.ca |
