MEEKINS, Cecil Embert- 92, of Fox Point, Lunenburg Co. It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Cecil E. Meekins, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Lower Five Islands, he was the son of the late Amos and Eva (Pugsley) Meekins. Cecil was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a Second World War veteran and served with the Canadian Army. Cecil was employed with Burns Fisheries, Hubbards and later with the Corps of Commissionaires at Canadian Forces, Mill Cove, until his retirement. He loved animals and his ducks that would fly to the front yard when called to be fed. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Heather Robertson and the nurses on the third floor. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, the former Beulah Coolen; daughters, Jeanne (Arles) Harnish and Judy (Gary) Harnish of Fox Point; grandchildren, Arles Jr. (Jennifer), Jacqueline (Michael), Krista and Crystal; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Natasha, Jade, Alexander, Miles, Mason and Chasity. He was predeceased by brothers, Thomas, James, Harvey, Asa and Amos and sisters, Alice and Marybelle. No visitation by request. There will be a private graveside service in Seventh Day Adventist Cemetery, Fox Point with Pastor Reid Coolen officiating. All arrangements entrusted to Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards.
