MILLER, Rev. Sam W. - Halifax, formerly of Hubbards, passed away suddenly as a result of a motor vehicle accident Saturday, June 10, 2006. Born in Champney's, N.L., he was a son of John and Rhoda (Randall) Miller. Educated in Newfoundland and Halifax, he was an active Anglican Priest for 38 years, serving parishes of Newport-Walton, Hubbards, New Glasgow and Halifax. After serving 15 years as rector of St. Philip's Church, Halifax, he retired in 1987 and moved, along with his wife LilyBud, to their beloved retirement home in Hubbards which they had previously built in 1968. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, LilyBud; daughters, Stephanie (Lee); Jan (Bill); granddaughters, Meghan and Erin; grandson, Mark; brother, Roland; sisters, Anne, Hilda and Ella, who reside in St. John's, N.L. He was predeceased by brother, Obie, and sister, Elsie. He was truly the most loving husband, father and grandfather that this family could have been blessed with. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards, The Right Reverend Fred Hiltz officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Greene. A private burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards.
