MacDONALD, Robert Elmore - It is with great sadness that his wife and family announce the passing of Bob MacDonald on February 11, 2005,  comfortably at home in Hubbards. He was the eldest son of Alice Josephine (Roberts) MacDonald and the late Archibald Alexander MacDonald. Bob was born in Glace Bay on January 1, 1937. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite "Margie" (McClelland); daughter, Janette (Todd) Pettipas; sons, Donald (Sue Douglas), Frank (Shelley); their mother, Fran; Bob's first wife, as well as stepdaughters, Cheryl-Ann (John) Fillmore, Patricia MacLean
(Daniel Rayson), Lori (Stephen) Sabine; grandchildren, Paul, Patrick, Tristan and Megan; as well as step grandchildren, Brad, Troy, Mitchell, Russell, Melissa, Lev, and Mira. He is also survived by siblings, Lillian (Frank) Stiller, Sharon (Bob) Millar, Alice (Marc) Brindeau, Harvey, Jean, Margaret (George) Blois, Daniel (Vicky), Doreen (Peter) Barnes; 24 nephews and nieces including the youngest, Jonathan and Brian, who were like grandchildren to him. He was predeceased by his eldest sister, Agnes and son, Kenneth in infancy. Bob will always be remembered for his multitude of interests and talents. His family will continue to reap the benefits of his wonderful gardens (he was an award-winning member of the Halifax Westmoreland Horticultural Society and also a member of the Basin Gardeners' Association); his voice will also be missed, which added to the church choirs and barbershop choruses throughout his life. All of the children in his extended family will deeply miss his mentorship and guidance. Our sincere thanks go to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Palliative Care Unit of QEII Health Sciences Centre and Red Cross Society. Everyone should be aware of the exceptionally fine services you all provide. Donations in memory to any of the above or Trinity United Church, Mahone Bay would be much appreciated. Family and friends will be received 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at 279 Schwartz Rd., Hubbards. A family committal service
will be held in Glace Bay at a later date. On-line condolences may be made at: www.rawalker.ca
