McEACHERN, Carl E. - 82, formerly of Black Point, passed away April 8, 2005, in Melville Lodge, Halifax. Born in Boutilier's Point, he was the eldest son of the late Donald and Eunice (Eldershawe) McEachern. Carl served overseas with the West Nova Scotia regiment during the Second World War. Upon returning from service, he took up residence in Black Point and was employed at the former Can-exel Plant in East River as a Stationary Engineer. He was a member of Black Point Fire Department and held the position as chief from 1962-1966. Surviving are brothers, Lester (Barb), Harry, Cecil (Clarice), all of Boutilier's Point, and many nieces and nephews. Carl will be dearly missed by his friend, Lilly MacDonald. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Wilnoff; brothers, Duncan and a brother, Gordon, in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. At Carl's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A committal service will take place 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, in Black Point Cemetery, Rev. Carolyn Palmer officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation and/or Lung Association of Nova Scotia, or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
