
| McEACHERN, Rose Ruby - 74, passed away April 15, 2004, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruby (Garrison) Smeltzer. Rose was a lifelong member of St. James Church and was a dedicated and honorary member of the A.C.W. She was very involved in her community and held various positions with her children's Sunday school, Home and School and J.A., which she was a founding member. In March she was honored by the Parish of French Village Mother's Union for her dedication to her family and church life. She served as president of the Women's Auxiliary, Seabright Legion, Branch No. 116. Through the years, Rose continued to be an active community volunteer and recently became a member of the Guardian Angel project. She enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Les (Debbie Martell), Boutilier's Point; daughters, Debbie (Kevin Boutilier), Upper Tantallon; Louise (Roddy Christie), Haliburton Hills; Rosann, Stratford, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Jeremy and Lori McEachern, Michael and Jan Boutilier, Joel and Quentin Christie; great-grandchild, Helena Christie; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Duncan; brother, Chester; sister-in-law, Rita. Funeral service 4 p.m. today in St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating.
