MOMBOURQUETTE, Wilfred Amedee - 75, of Boutilier's Point, passed away suddenly at home on April 15, 2001. Born in Arichat, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Simon and Evageline (Theriault) Mombourquette. Wilfred will be fondly remembered as a loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and a friend to many. He was very proud of his family and of all their accomplishments. He was a veteran of the 2nd World War, serving in the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He retired from HMCS Dockyards with 33 years service in 1985. He was a carpenter and locksmith by trade, but was lovingly known by his family as "The Inventor", a handyman and jack-of-all-trades. He took great pride in his many woodworking projects, renovating his home and building furniture for his family. He had a long "to do" list for every season and always had a new project on the go. Family gatherings and sing-a-longs were among some of his most treasured times. He enjoyed camping, playing his guitar, harmonica and keyboard, and was always ready for a game of crib with whomever would challenge him. Wilfred had a passion for life and was young at heart and in mind and soul. He loved a good joke and had a great talent for storytelling, especially over a cup of freshly brewed coffee. He loved to dance and was the first one on the floor and the last one off. He couldn't resist making an entrance without his trademark dance steps. Wilfred, Dad, Grampy, Amedee, Uncle Wilfred, Uncle Amedee, Woozie, you always put your family first. Whenever we needed you, were always there to offer support or lend a hand. You will never be forgotten and will be sadly missed by all whose lives you've touched. We are comforted by knowing that you are still watching over us. We love and miss you. The stairway to Heaven must have been in need of repair. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion (nee Cornelius); son, Don, Halifax; daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Keel, Boutilier's Point; Cynthia MacInnis, Halifax; Paulette (Don) Gillespie; Twila (Rick) McInnis, both of Hammonds Plains; Angela (Adrian) Coupe, Hubbards; brother, Arthur (Olive), Ottawa; sisters, Margaret (James) Briand, Agnes Comstock, both of Halifax; Helen Wilkie, Dartmouth; Nora Purdy, Goodwood; Florence Ryan, Timberlea-Lakeside; eight grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. Wilfred's wishes were for a family committal service to be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
