Edith Shirley Norman

Loving wife of Frank Norman of Glen Haven, passed peacefully away at QE11Health Sciences Center, Halifax on January 26, 2012. Shirley was born in New Glasgow and raised in Moose River, Pictou County, NS. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Anna Cameron. Shirley began her working career with MT & T in New Glasgow and Halifax. She then spent 9 years as reservations agent with TCA/Air Canada at their Halifax office and International airport. She married in 1971 and moved with her husband Frank to Quebec City where they spent 5 years. They then moved to Southern Alberta where she enjoyed 20 very successful years in the Real Estate industry. She and Frank moved to Glen Haven in 1995 and built their retirement home overlooking the beautiful St Margarets Bay. Shirley was a gourmet cook and was also passionate about decorating, gardening, painting, and entertaining their families and numerous great friends and neighbors. She and Frank also logged many memorable miles RVing throughout North America prior to moving to Nova Scotia. She had a great sense of humor, was an exceptional organizer, and her caring compassionate personality has touched the hearts of many people. She was a dedicated member of St. Luke's United Church in Tantallon, through the years served on the board of Birth Right, canvassed for Heart and Stroke, Canadian Cancer Society, and other charitable organizations. She was predeceased by her brother Brent (Donna), Brother in law Ronald Macinnis (Kaye), and step mother Edie Cameron. She is survived by sisters Kaye Macinnis, Debbie Miller (Allen) and brothers Wayne (Jeanette) and Mervin (Gladys). Shirley will be greatly missed by her devoted husband Frank, her puppies Pascha and Jenna, and her many friends and neighbors. She has asked to express her thanks to her Oncology team, all the great nurses and staff at 5A and 11th floor VG hospital, and VON for the exceptional care they provided. Special thanks also to friends, neighbors, and the St. Lukes Family for their kind support along her journey. As per her request, Shirley has been cremated. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Association (Research) or charity of choice. Memorial service will be held at St. Luke's United Church in Tantallon, located at 5374 St. Margaret's Bay Rd., Upper Tantallon, on Wed. February 1st. at 1:00 PM. Revs. Kevin Little and Carolyn Palmer officiating.
