POIRIER, Joseph Arthur - 84, Halifax, died suddenly Tuesday, December 17, 2002, in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, Halifax. Born in St. Nicholas, P.E.I., he was a son of the late Stanley J. and Mary Ann (Poirier) Perry. Arthur retired from the federal government (DND) where he worked for many years. He was a veteran of the Second World War where he served overseas in Italy, France and Germany. He will be sadly missed by all family members, especially his niece, Cathy Redmond, Halifax who loved and cared for him for many years. He is survived by his sister, Rita Gallant, Summerside, P.E.I.; brothers, John S. (Beatrice) Perry, Miscouche, P.E.I.; Anthony "Tony" (Dorothy) Perry, Halifax; sister-in-law, Phyllis Poirier, Miscouche, P.E.I.; number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Fred Poirier; brother-in-law, Ben Gallant. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Tantallon. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, in St. Stephen's Church, corner of Normandy Drive and Robie Street, Halifax, Rev. Gilbert Bertrand, O.M.I. officiating.
