RYAN, Shirley Glenice - 71, Timberlea, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at home. Born in Blandford, she was a daughter of the late Glen and Blanche (Gates) Boutilier (Aspotogan). In her early years, she was employed by Cyrus Eaton, working in Deep Cove and Cleveland, Ohio. Following that she worked for a number of years in Halifax at The Lord Nelson and Nova Scotian Hotels where she made some special lifelong friends. She worked part-time for many years at Sears in mail order. Many of her leisure hours were spent reading. Outside the home, she spent endless hours watching local sports. She especially enjoyed her weekly swim with her friends at the Northcliff pool. Known for her smile, laughter and friendship, she was always there to help others. Shirley will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her. Survived by son, Dale (Jackie), Prospect; daughter, Dawn, Timberlea; brothers, Freddie (Phyllis), East River; Avery (Verna), Willis (Patsy), both of Aspotogan; sister, Jewell Malacrida, Blandford; grandchildren, Jeffery and Stephanie. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Edward "Ted". Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today, May 11, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Timberlea, Father James Richard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kid Sport Fund, c/o Sport Nova Scotia.
