Glennie Nora (Stevens) Schnare

 

The family sadly announces the passing of Glennie, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, at Shoreham Village, Chester on March 19th in her 86th year. Born on Big Tancook Island and formally of Blandford, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Sarah Stevens of Blandford. She is survived by her sons David (Cheryl) Schnare, William (Rhonda) Schnare, daughters Gloria (Darryl) White, all of Blandford, Marilyn (Lawson) Miller, Northwest Cove, Son in law Glenn (Lila) Lacey, Clearland, and two sisters Elva Sawler, Chester and Mabel Schnare, Deep Cove. Grandchildren Benjamin (Gina) Miller, Jonathan (Abby) Miller, Jon-David (Monica) Lacey, Daniel (Natalie) Schnare, Sarah (Ryan) Schnare, Chilista (Doug) Hawco, Rebecca (Kyle) Gallagher, Katelyn and Jessica Schnare. Great-grandchildren Makayla, Alexander and Mitchell Miller, Ireland and Georgia Miller, Patrick, Brianna, Alexander Lacey, Joseph Hawco, Damian Aldridge. She was predeceased by the love of her life Donald, her husband of over 60 years; her first daughter Evangeline Lacey; her grand-daughter Melissa Schnare; brothers Cecil, Percy and Sterling Stevens.  Glennie enjoyed many crafts especially rug hooking, knitting and quilting. She was very proud of the fact that one of her rugs was chosen by Halifax as a gift to their sister city in Japan. She also made custom drapery for the T.Eaton Company for many years.

 

A heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers at Shoreham Village who gave our mother such loving care and us such compassion and support. You are our heroes.

 

Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A private family graveside service to follow at a later date Arrangements are under the direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards.
