SLAUENWHITE, Richard B. Sr. "Jack" - 85, Halifax, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. He was born in Jollimore Village on October 5, 1922, to the late Gilbert and Victoria Slauenwhite. Jack served overseas in the Second World War in the Princess Louise Fusiliers and later with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He worked as a storemen with the Federal Government at Windsor Park and the Dockyard until his retirement. Jack was an avid fisherman and hunter, and spent many years enjoying both. He is survived and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 66 years, Beatrice "Bea"; son, Richard B. (Brenda); daughter, Shirley Frederiksen; also four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, William, Haliburton and Arthur; sisters, Lottie, Jean, Mary, Helen, and Doris. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. Burial will take place at a later date. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses of units 4.2 and 8.2 of the Halifax Infirmary, also the nurses of VON and Red Cross Home Care Workers.
