SMITH, Roland John - 92, Glen Haven, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Glen Haven, he was a son of the late James and Jennie (Smith) Smith. Roland retired from Oland's Brewery in 1979. He was also a member of the IOOF MU, Seabright, for 74 years. Surviving are sons, Gordon (Isabel), French Village; Owen (Linda) and Frank, both of Glen Haven; daughters, Hilda (George) Olive, North Carolina; Nora Picard, Bedford; Elsie (Wayne) Manuel, Glen Haven; brothers, Melvin, British Columbia; Malcom, Seabright; James, Glen Haven; Carl, Sudbury, Ont.; sisters, Beryl Claus, Ottawa, Ont.; Madeline MacMillian, Halifax; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia M. (Dauphinee); sisters, Jean and Dorothy; twin brother, Arnold in infancy. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, August 2, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 3, in St. Paul's Anglican Church, French Village, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating.
