
| SNAIR, Byron Maxwell -81, of Boutilier's Point, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, at home. Born in Ingramport, he was a son of the late Firman and Nellie (Manuel) Snair. Byron was born and lived his whole life as he wished between Ingramport and Boutilier's Point. He had a full life surrounded by his wife, Joan of 50 years and his loving children, Donna, Janice and Jeff. Byron worked for 36 years for Fisheries Canada and was a respected Steward of PSAC for many years. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, twice serving as Master of St. Margaret's Lodge. He retired 19 years ago to spend time with his family, grandchildren and his new great-grandchild, Halle. Byron loved the outdoors. In his retirement, he grew Christmas trees with his son Jeff. Unfortunately, Byron had several health problems which resulted in him spending a great deal of time at QEII Health Sciences Centre. The family would like to extend thanks for their kindness and care. He is survived by his wife, Joan B. (Newman); son, Jeffrey (Patricia), Boutilier's Point; daughters, Donna (Leonard) Stephenson; Janice Snair (Steve Cann); both of Halifax; brothers, Eric, Albert, Malcolm and Clifford; sisters, Dorothy Lohnes, Elizabeth Childs, Kathleen "Toots" Nickerson, Gwen Brown; grandchildren, Erin and Gabrielle Weagle (Andrew Cullum); great-grandchild, Halle Cullum; many nieces and nephews and in-laws including Joan's brother Gary and his wife Anita. He was predeceased by brothers, Keith, Dan, Reginald and Arthur; sister, Evelyn Waltherr. The family will receive visitors 4-7 p.m. Friday and a service celebrating Byron's life, along with a Masonic service, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, all in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax.
