SNAIR, Wilfred Beverly - 87, Black Point, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Queensland on December 14, 1919, he was a son of the late Robert and Charlotte "Lottie" (Selig) Snair. An electrician by trade, he spent his career as a civil servant, working for Transport Canada at the Robert L. Stanfield International Airport. He retired from there in 1980. Dad proudly served his country during the Second World War having seen action in Western Europe with the Canadian Grenadier Guard. His numerous decorations are testament to his courage and steadfastness. The consummate tinkerer, he was the happiest when working on his property, in his garden, and especially loved his wood pile. He is survived by his son, Peter (Judith), Black Point; daughter, Catherine (Dale) Mitchell, Hubbards; sister, Madeline "Madge" Salzman, St. Paul's, Alta.; grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Lambert, Manitoba; Alexander (Shantelle), British Columbia; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Alexander, Manitoba; "Extra Special Pappa" to Robyn, Isaac and Elijah Berglund, Cole Harbour. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris K. (Hubley), in 2001; brothers, Elmer and Granville; sisters, Dolly (Gordon) Casey and Violet (Harvey) Smith; special brother-in-law, Gordon Salzman. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, September 17, and funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Pastor Dot Bell, LLWL officiating. A family committal service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. As a family, we would like to thank the nurses and doctors on 8.2 and 8.4 at QEII Health Sciences Centre, and an extra special thank you to the nurses, Eleanor and Rhonda, on 5.2 in the ICU for their exceptional care of Wilfred during this difficult time.
