STANTOS, JoAnne Margaret - Mill Cove, passed away August 17, 2002, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bedford, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Cooper) Nelson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. JoAnne was well known as a restaurateur in Halifax, from 1956 to 1970. She was also a former member of the Canadian Restaurant Association and Past Worthy Matron of O.S.E. Mystic Star, Chapter 40, Head of St. Margaret's Bay. She was a former member of Marchettes and a member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, Halifax. She is survived by sister-in-law, Pota Stantos; brother- in-law, G. Eric McLeod, both of Halifax; nieces, Anna Richard, Halifax; Maria Stantos-Zoukis, Ottawa; nephews, Stewart Cooper, Alberta; Mike Cooper, Bedford; Michael and Derek Kruger, both of Nova Scotia; David, British Columbia; many grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George; sisters, Pat Kruger, Mickie McLeod; brother, Cyril; nephew, Lee. There will be no funeral service as requested by JoAnne. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
