STEVENS, Esther Genevieve - Went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2007, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after suffering a stroke. Born on Big Tancook Island, Lunenburg Co., on April 9, 1916, Esther was a daughter of the late Ervine and Jennie (Levy) Stevens, and a granddaughter of Amos H. and Augusta Stevens, and Albert and Melinda Levy. Esther's focus was to serve her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and to provide a warm and loving home for her husband and children. Esther and Victor, affectionately known as Nan and Pop, were the objects of affection by their adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They leave behind a rich heritage of love and faith. Esther is survived by sons, Victor (Karen), Halifax; Keith (Violet), Boutilier's Point, and Bruce (Jennifer), Liverpool, and daughter, Judith (Daryl Burgess), Lake Fletcher; grandchildren, Victor Stevens III, Darlene Stevens (Gary Lee), Catherine Boutilier (Vincent), Robert Stevens (Monica), Norman Stevens (Sandi), Jennifer Burgess (Ron Murphy), Jacqueline Burgess; stepgranddaughter, Daniella Flumara; great-grandchildren, Miranda Robinson (Bryce) and Tyler Boutilier, Josiah and Krysten Stevens, Haley and Mason Stevens, Clare and Clark Murphy; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Gladys Stevens, Donelda Stevens, Geraldine Stevens, Erna Stevens, and brother-in-law, Lloyd Stevens. Esther was predeceased by brothers, Herman, George and Eric, and sisters, Lottie Zinck, Hazel Peterson and Pearl Haines. She was most fortunate to have a guardian angel in the form of friend and former caregiver, Irene Betts. Esther was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in Full Gospel Church, 6405 North St., Halifax, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, Rev. Gary Barrett officiating, assisted by Rev. W.J. Wozney, with a reception following in the church reception facility. Interment will follow in Black Point Cemetery.
