| SWEET, Margaret Eleanor - Seabright, passed away
peacefully at home. Born in Melvern Square, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of
the late Joseph Edwin and Katheryn Matilda (Buchanan) Baker. She was the wife of
the late Reid Sweet who had a well-known photographic store for many years on
Blowers Street, Halifax. Shortly after their retirement, they moved to Seabright
and became strong supporters of the William Black United Church in Glen
Margaret. Margaret loved playing both golf and curling in her most active years.
Her keen interest in viewing these sports never ended. Margaret remained bright
and interested in all things until her death. This summer she hosted her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren for one glorious week. She also hosted
several groups of relatives from the United States. Margaret was a very strong
minded and courageous person, she had amazing memory, wisdom and common sense.
She enjoyed knitting sweaters, blankets and mittens, baking pies, rolls and
cakes until the end. Loving and giving, she tenderly looked after her husband
through a long illness until he died in 1995. After a heart valve replacement at
the age of 86, she had 10 happy years living independently and enjoying family
and friends, and her great-grandchildren who were born after her surgery. She
was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived
by her son, Brian Sweet, Hubbards; grandsons, Alan, Halifax; Jamie, Canmore,
Alta.; and Andrew (Val Reynolds), Calgary; daughter, Rosemary (Rev. Paul)
