
| SCHWARTZ, Bernard George Malcolm "Bernie" - 78, Hubbards, passed away November 10, 2001, in Scotia Nursing Homes, surrounded by his loving family. He was the youngest son of the late Alerton and Daisy (Dauphinee) Schwartz. He was a retired civil servant of the B.I.O. in Dartmouth. Bernie was a member of St. Luke's Church, Hubbards, where he served as church warden and parish warden. He served on the Board of Directors of South Shore Regional Recreation Association. He was a member of Loyal Hubbards Union Lodge which had presented him with a Merit Jewel for his years of dedication to the Past Provincial Grand Master Lodge. He was also a member of Queens Lodge of Past Grands. Bernie was also a trustee of Shatford Memorial School, Meals on Wheels and a lifetime member of Hubbards Volunteer Fire Department. Bernie is survived by his wife and companion of 57 years, Mary (Green) Schwartz; daughters, Rosemary (Jim) Grant, Dartmouth; Debra (Mike) Cornish, Ontario; sons, David (Pat) Schwartz, Ontario; Donald (Jean) Schwartz; Timberlea, Gary (Pam) Schwartz, Ontario, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Gwen; brothers, Amos, Walter, Alerton "Lertie" and Alonzo Schwartz. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, where funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Rev. Mark Pretty officiating, assisted by Rev. Judie Lafford. Burial to follow in Pine Hill cemetery, Hubbards. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. Luke's Memorial Fund, Parkinson's Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Division or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. |
