81, passed away January 27, 2012 in Northwood Ivany
Place, Bedford after a lengthy and courageous battle
with Lewy Body Dementia. His positive outlook never
failed and his sense of humour and wit made knowing
him a true delight. He was a dedicated member and
deacon of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, sang in
quartets and choirs and played several instruments.
He was an avid stamp collector, a meticulous
craftsman and a kind and compassionate person always
willing to help anyone in need. Born in Carbonear,
NL, he was the son of the late Harry Ingram and
Clarice Irene (Penney) Soper. He was an optician and
worked for 22 years at Garnett Optical Co., Ltd. and
for 15 years at Eastern Optical Laboratories Ltd. He
is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marie (Coolen),
Bedford; brothers, Kenneth (Marjorie), Scarborough
ON; Lloyd, Halifax; sister, Lillian Babb, Harbour
Grace, NL; many nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by brothers, William, Harry A. and
Charles. Cremation has taken place under the
direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home,
Hubbards. No visitation by request. A graveside
service only will be held at the Fox Point SDA
Cemetery, Fox Point on Tuesday January 31, 2012 at 2
p.m. Elder Reid Coolen officiating. Memorial
donations may be made to the Fox Point SDA Church
Cemetery Fund or charity of choice.
