TURPIN, Frederick Charles Albert - 83, Bayswater, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Emma (Prince) Turpin. Fred served with the Canadian Army during the Second World War and retired from Maritime Tel & Tel. Company after 35 years of service. He served on many volunteer committees and was a recipient of a WAYS Award. He was a member of All Saints Church, Bayswater, a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge for over 40 years, and was a Past Provincial Grand Master. He was a charter and life member, former president and treasurer of Seasiders Seniors Club Blandford. He served on Lunenburg County Seniors Council; was a Commissioner of the Blandford Fire Department and part of the Planning and Building Committee for the Blandford Community Centre. Fred enjoyed many years of playing and coaching hockey, gardening, bowling and golf. He will be remembered throughout the community as Santa Claus. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean (King); son, Bernard (Minda), Lawrencetown; daughters, Heather (Marshal) Hector, Bayswater; Pamela DeMone, Timberlea; grandchildren, Wendy, Christopher, Kirk, Karen, Jeffrey, and Lisa-Jane; sister-in-law, Nina Turpin, Bridgewater. He was predeceased by brothers, James, Gordon and Leonard. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 2, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and an I.O.O.F. tribute service will be at 7 p.m., both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in All Saints Anglican Church, Bayswater, Rev. Laura McCue officiating. Burial to follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bayswater.
