| VAUGHAN, Margaret Marion - 78, Halifax, passed
away Thursday, March 30, 2006, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in
Corner Brook, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Cora (Harvey)
Macdonald. Margaret grew up in Botwood, N.L., graduating from Bishop Spencer
College, St. John's, N.L., and shortly thereafter she began a nursing program in
St. John's. While at home on summer vacation she met her late husband Thomas,
who was working with the Bank of Montreal in Botwood at that time. Margaret
changed from nursing to being a loving wife and mother. Tom's work with the bank
took him and Margaret to many communities around the Atlantic Provinces.
Margaret was faithful to her church, involved in the A.C.W., the Altar Guild and
choir in St. Mary's, Chatham, N.B.; St. Peter's, Birch Cove; Holy Trinity,
Yarmouth; Cathedral Church of All Saints, Halifax. She was an avid bridge player
and enjoyed holidays at their summer residence at Bay du Vin, Miramichi, N.B.
Margaret did casual work over the years in many branches of the Bank of
Montreal. In 1969 she started working full-time with the bank, retiring 19 years
later. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and
family gatherings were always her most treasured times. She is survived by sons,
Henry G., Halifax; Rev. Canon Kenneth (Barb), Annapolis Royal; son-in-law, Clyde
(Lynne) Evans; grandsons, Rev. Thomas (Rev. Krista Hilton), Douglas, Tim (Kim),
Scott, Jeff, and Danny; great-grandson, Cole; sister, Kitty Jewers, Botwood. She
was predeceased by husband, Thomas Allan; daughter, Helena; brothers, Kenneth
and Donald; sister, Mona. Cremation has taken place under the direction of
Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held 11
a.m. Saturday, April 8, in Cathedral Church of All Saints, Halifax, Right
Reverend F.J. Hiltz, assisted by Right Reverend Sue Moxley and Very Reverend
Glen Burgomaster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cathedral Church
