
| VERGE, George Henry - 73, The Lodge, passed away May 6, 2002, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in The Lodge, he was a son of the late Byron and Lucy (Bolton) Verge. George worked on the waterfront as a freight handler and also in the fall and spring of the year he fished lobster. In George's later years, he enjoyed driving his car and visiting many of his friends along the shore. He was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 44, Chester. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Mae Richardson; son, Stephen (Cheryl), Sims Settlement; daughter, Judy (Junior) Dorey, The Lodge; step-daughter, Glenda (Joseph) Poirier, Harrietsfield, Halifax Co.; brothers, Arthur, Mill Cove; William, The Lodge; sisters, Beatrice Newell, Lower Sackville; Doris (Gilford) Harnish, Mill Cove; Betty (Stephen) Bainbridge, East Chester; grandchildren, Tyler Dorey, Mallory Verge, Brandon Verge, Garnet Harnish, Glen and Michael O'Brien. He was predeceased by brother, Albert; sisters, Lily and Virginia; granddaughter, Laura; stepson, Glen O'Brian. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday in Mill Cove Baptist Church, Mill Cove, Rev. Shant Manuel officiating.
