YOUNG, Weldon Harris - 85, Simms Settlement, passed away December 27, 2002, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Big Tancook Island, he was the son of the late Eli and Iva Belle (Slaunwhite) Young. Weldon was a veteran of the Second World War in the West Nova Scotia Regiment serving in Italy, England and Sicily. He was also an avid fishermen and outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, the former Ferne M. Baker; sons, William Wayne, Simms Settlement; Linden Bruce, Kitchener, Ont.; daughters, Welda Elise (Bernard) Dorey, Simms Settlement; stepdaughters, Peggy Lynn (Robert) Conrad, Fox Point; Maureen Pearl (Russell) Westhaver, St. Thomas, Ont.; sister, Millicent (Henry) Crant, Mahone Bay; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Mabelle Purcell and Jean Hartlen. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m., today in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, Pastor Roy Uffindell officiating. Committal service 11 a.m. Sunday in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Cemetery, Fox Point.
