HARNISH, Helen Irene - 92, Mill
Cove, passed away April 10, 2006, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born
in Mill Cove, she was a daughter of the late John and Janie (Young) Jennings.
Surviving are sons, Lynn, Mill Cove; Blair, Mill Cove; daughters, Beulah Harnish,
Birchy Head; Dorinda Coolen, Mill Cove; Carol (Odess) Harnish, Mill Cove; Corine
Coolen, Fox Point; Marilyn Jollimore, Mill Cove; Glenda (Jack) Harnish, Mill
Cove; brother, Lester, Mill Cove; sisters, Nora ( Percy Bezanson) Fleet,
Blandford; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by
husband, Hubert; five sons, one daughter, one grandson, three brothers and two
sisters. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service will
be 11 a.m. Thursday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, Rev. Jim
Greene officiating. Burial to follow in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Fox

ELLIOT (Egan) (Lushington), Jean
Marie - 93, Seabright, passed away April 15, 2006, at her home in Seabright.
Born on September 13, 1912, in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of Henry and
Catherine (Fiddes) Lushington. She was a member of Saint Margaret of Scotland
Catholic Church, Glen Margaret and was, at one time, a member of the IODE, the
Ballet Guild and a supporter of the theatre, the arts and Symphony Nova Scotia.
She made many costumes and acted as chaperone and den mother for the dancers and
actors. She also received diplomas in Pottery and Painting from the Nova Scotia
College of Art. Jean and her twin sister, Helen, were the first children to sing
on the CBC Radio show "The Pollyanna Hour" in Halifax. A survivor of the Halifax
Explosion, she lived a full life, loved to entertain and travel, and will be
missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Anne
Coulson, Vancouver, B.C.; Patricia (Donald) Bonang, Seabright; Elizabeth
Johnson, Port Williams; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; twin sister,
Helen Mahen; brothers, John and Peter; sisters-in-law, Jimelda and Joyce. In
addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Harold J. Egan and
Howard B. Elliot; her son, David and his wife Marina; son-in-law, David Johnson;
sister, Catherine; brothers, James, Frank, Henry, Robert, and William. Cremation
has taken place. The family will meet friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday,
April 20, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. A
funeral mass in celebration of her life will be held Friday, April 21, at 11
a.m., in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Shad Bay, Rev. Eric Theriault and Rev.
James Richards officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. A
private family burial service will be held following the reception. In lieu of
flowers, donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Carol Anne
and Elizabeth want to thank Patricia, Donald, Catherine and the caregivers for

Mill Cove, passed away at home. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late
Albert Edward Sr. and Edwina L. (Turner) Brewer. Ernie was retired from the
civil service in HMC Dockyard as an electrical specifications writer. He is
survived by brother, Albert (Linda), Dartmouth; sisters, Isabel (Kenny)
MacKenzie, Musquodoboit Harbour; Laura Currie, Edwina Moore, both of Dartmouth;
stepdaughters, Linda (Bill) Martin, Lower Sackville; Patricia Kennedy (Glen
King), Halifax; Joan Harrison, Dartmouth; stepsons, Frank Shortell, Oromocto,
N.B.; William Daoust, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Reg, Stacey, Karen, Daniel,
Barbara, Julie, Lauren, Grant, Ian; great-grandson, Billy. He was predeceased by
his wife, the former Joan Marie Shortell. The family will receive visitors 1-3
p.m. Thursday, April 20, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, in the family
reception area lower level, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. A private family
burial will be held in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Fox Point, Rev. Jim

GREGG (Long), Jacquelyn Ruth "Jackie" - 50,
Bayside, passed away unexpectedly April 19, 2006. Born in Amherst on October 2,
1955, she was the daughter of Leo and Ruth Long. Jackie is survived by her
children, Sarah and Justin Gregg; her siblings, Donna Thorhiem, Shauna (Jim)
Stewart, John (Lesley) Long and Michael (Maureen) Long; her stepsister, Lori
(Andrew) Power, and stepbrother, Greg (Wanda) Herrett; her father and
stepmother, Leo and Claire Long; her mother, Ruth Long; her many nieces and
nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins. She will also be missed by her two dogs, Kip
and Jesse. Jackie was an artist and passionate about life, and she especially
loved her children. She was an avid gardener and spent many years breeding
Golden Retrievers. She was an active community member and a cherished friend.
One could always find Jackie on the water, in the garden or among friends. A
celebration of her life will be held in Walker's Funeral Home, (902) 826-1331,
13549 Hwy 333 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, on Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m.

formerly of Lewis Lake, passed away April 26, 2006, in Northwood Centre,
Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Wallace and Nellie
(Barnes) Kemp. She is survived by sons, Glen (Barbara), Lewis Lake; Gary,
Stayner, Ont.; Gilbert (Kelly), Hampton, N.B.; John (Lucille), Hubley;
daughters, Debbie (Allan) Gilbert, Lewis Lake; Janice (Eric) Foren, Stillwater;
Sandi Murphy, Musquodoboit Harbour; sister, Hilda MacDonald, Truro; 19
grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, John
C.; sisters, Gwen Manuel, Dorothy Slaunwhite, and brother, Ralph. Cremation has
taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. A family

Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Joseph G. and Margaret E. (White)
