BUTLER, Maida Leola - July 6, 1916 - April 6, 2007, Melville Lodge. It is with deep sadness that we, the family, wish to announce the death of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Maida was born in Boutilier's Point, a daughter of the late Albertus and Selina Awalt. She was a faithful long-standing member of St. James Anglican Church in Boutilier's Point. Maida worked at the Leghorn Barbecue for many years, as well as Eatons and Zellers. After retiring from Woolco in 1981, Maida traveled extensively. She enjoyed gardening, helping others and spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; daughter-in-law, Shirley; and her best friend, Mary Langille. She is survived by her sister, Violet Christie, Tantallon; son, Kenneth (Violet), Timberlea; daughter, Janet (Tom) Walker, Victoria; and son, John, Dartmouth. Maida will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Clay (Jackie), Cherie (Jeff), Cindy (Bruno), Donnie (Lori), Tim (Brenda) and Melissa, along with her niece, nephews, and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. CHISHOLM, Susan Lavenia ìSusieî- 86, a resident of Parkstone Enhanced Care, formerly of Ingramport, passed away April 11, 2007, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in St. Margaretís Bay, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Amanda (Dorey) Vogler. She is survived by son, Christopher (Kathie), Hubbards; daughters, Shelia (Robert) Manuel, Dartmouth; Rita (Ivan) Langille, Head of St. Margaretís Bay; Judy Manuel, Boutilierís Point; Lynn Mackenzie, Halifax; sister, Mary Cooper, Point Claire, Que.; grandchildren, Michael, Tanya, Krista, Stephanie, Tedra, Anna, Tracy, Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Eric, Madison, and Paige. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore J. Chisholm; sister, Marguerite, and infant brother, Franklyn. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, April 13, and a service celebrating Susieís life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, both in Ronald A. PETERS, Eric Jarvis - 81, Head of St. Margaret's Bay, passed away Monday, April 16, 2007, at home. Born in Fredericton, N.B., he was a son of the late Rev. Ovid and Pearl (Boyd) Peters. Eric retired from the Federal Department of Transportation as an Air Traffic Controller in 1982, moving to St. Margaret's Bay in 1985 and enjoyed the waters of the Bay, spending his time fishing, boating and swimming. He was an avid barbershopper and most recently belonged to the Millstream Chorus in Bedford and also was a founding member of the Rail City Chorus in Moncton. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; daughter, Anne (Malcolm) Maxwell and their son James, Prince George, B.C.; son, Boyd R. (Deborah) and their children Brian, Meredith and Patricia, Fredericton, N.B., and brother, Ralph N. (Lorna), Saint John, N.B. He was predeceased by his sister, Phyllis Huestis. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, in St. Luke's United Church, Tantallon, Rev. Kevin Little officiating. A family committal service will be held a later date. BRIGLEY, Michelle Helene - 39, of Hubbards and Yarmouth, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Hubbards. Born in Halifax, she was the beloved wife of Bill Goodyer, and loving mother of Aaron and Alex. She will be dearly missed by parents, Edward Brigley, Halifax; Doris and Michael Eagles, Hubbards; her ever caring brothers, Spencer, Halifax; Raymond (Paula) Brigley, Queensland. Michelle was a graduate of St. Mary's University. She taught at the Nova Scotia Community College and gave of herself in the Naval Reserves as well as volunteering at Alice Housing (Halifax) and Juniper House (Yarmouth). Never to be forgotten and always remembered by family and friends. A funeral service celebrating the life of Michelle will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards, Rev. Jim Greene officiating. A family only committal service will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alice Housing or Juniper House. YOUNG, George Elias - 69, Hubbards, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, at home. Born in The Lodge, he was a son of the late Herbert and Hilda (Harnish) Young. George worked most of his life in the fishing industry in St. Margaret's Bay. He also worked a number of years in Ottawa in the auto sales industry. He is survived by his wife, the former Brenda Graves; sons, Edward (Darlene), Fox Point; Richard (Darlene), Hubbards; Darryl (Melissa), Dartmouth; daughter, Anna Marie (Rene) Gagne, Ottawa; brother, Steward, Timberlea; grandchildren, Christian, Corey, Kyle, Luke, Alicia, Tiffany and Derraya; great-granddaughter, Lauren; and best friend, Maggie. He was predeceased by his son, George Jr.; brothers, Herbert and John; sisters, Beatrice and Lilla. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mark's Anglican Church, Mill Cove, Rev. Jim Greene officiating. COVEY, Kevin Wilfred - 49, Dartmouth, formerly of Hackett's Cove, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Dorothy Covey-Allen, Bedford, and the late Wilfred Covey. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Covey-Allen and stepfather Clifford Allen; sisters, Sharon (Richard) Mallory, Dartmouth, and their daughter Shari (Rob) Shaw, Truro; Bonnie (Terry) Doyle, Tantallon, and their son Greg, Halifax, and daughter, Lyndsay (Ken) Larade, Tantallon; great-niece, Caelan Shaw, Truro. Visitation will be held 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon.
