BROOKS, Roy Reginald -85, Boutilier's Point, passed away Monday, April 6, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Charlestown, Mass., he was a son of the late John and Garnet (Dorey) Brooks. Roy served a short time in the Royal Canadian Navy before being drafted to the American Navy where he served over 30 years; serving in the Second World War, The Korean Conflict and The Vietnam wars, then, returning home to Nova Scotia in 1996. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan M. (Rhyno-Graves) Brooks; children, Garnet (Joseph) Vicars, Janet (Micky) Thomas, Sheri Ellen (Rod) Gallagher, Veronica, Timothy, Patrick (Elaine), Karan (Robert) Manuel, Deborah (Lloyd) Marriott, Victoria (Jerry) Nauss, Pamela (Joseph) Pike, Robyn Graves, Shawn (Louise) Graves, Floyd Graves; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; special god children, Alexis, Ashton, Jonas and Caleb; sister, Evelyn; half-brothers and sisters, Cyril, Gerald, Wayne, Donnie, Bobby, Gary, Jimmy, Marion. He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Jack "John", William and Gordon; sisters, Hazel, Myrtle and Molly; half-sister, Marie. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9th, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549, Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. WALSH, Leslie Ann -69, of Tantallon, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Vivian (Sheppard) Whynacht, Halifax, and the late Robert Cutler. Along with her mother, she is survived by her husband, Rev. Richard Walsh; children, Susan (David) Bailey, Robert, both of Tantallon; Jennifer (Trevor) Wadden, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Cutler, William, Tyler, Sarah and Madison; brother, Frank (Grace) Whynacht; sister, Jean (Pete) Blackie, Gander, N.L.; several nieces, nephews, grandniece and extended family. Besides her father she is predeceased by her stepfather, Cecil Whynacht. Leslie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was involved in many church organizations, including St. Peter's Perish Merrymakers, various ACW's and was the last President of the Alexandra Society of Kings College. In previous years she had devoted her time as a Brownie leader and choir mother. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crafts and especially her family. The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 20, in St. James' Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Save the Bells Fund, St. George's Anglican Church and/or IWK Health Centre Foundation, Halifax. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. PUBLICOVER, Edna Elinore "Dorothy" -84, of Chester, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in Bedford she was a daughter of the late Morton and Helen (Hopkins) Barrett. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Doreen) Barrett, Lower Sackville; David Barrett, Oromocto, N.B.; Paul (Sally) Hector, Rockingham; Ronald (Hazel) Hector, Dartmouth; Marshal (Heather) Hector, Bayswater; daughters, Judy (Gerald) Gaudet, Dartmouth; Helen Kendell, Drumheller, Alta.; Roberta (Mike) Kenney, Lower Sackville; sisters, Margaret (Gerald) Irving, Halifax; Earlene (Harold) Stewart; Halifax; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husbands, Harold Hector, Robert McCall, Harold Publicover; brothers, Ronald Barrett, Marshal Barrett; sister, Lillian MacFarlane. The family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 22; funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, Rev. Laura McCue officiating. YARN (Noiles), Margaret Frances -92, of Boutilier's Point, passed away peacefully in Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax, on Sunday April 26, 2009, with her son Doug at her side. Born in Nappan, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Adelaide (Clyburn) Noiles. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved life, was full of fun, and enjoyed singing and dancing and she was "generally" good spirited. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Jackie), Truro; Albert (Joyce), Simms Settlement; Doug (Sheila), St. Margaret's Bay; daughter, Mary Manuel, Halifax; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Albert, son, Gordie; siblings, Bill, Fred, Minnie, Alice , Victoria, Kaye, Mabel, Eva, and Jennie. Family will receive visitors 7-9 p.m. Tuesday April 28 in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, in St. Margaret's of Scotland Catholic Church, Glen Margaret.
