HARNISH, Timothy Michael - 48, Simms Settlement, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Edison Reginald and Shirley Marie (Boutilier) Harnish of Mill Cove. Timmy worked for Ceres Corp. at Fairview Cove on the Halifax Waterfront Local 269 as a stevedore and a crane operator for 30 years. He was an avid classic car collector and restorer. Timmy was also a member of the Annapolis Valley Cruiser Car Club and the St. Margaret's Bay Snowmobile and ATV Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Thelma Patricia Boutilier; son, Michael D. (Barb), Mill Cove; sisters, Elizabeth Anne (Eric), Hebbville; Carolyn Jane (Vernon), Mill Cove. He will also be missed by family pets, Zen and Shubby. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards, Rev. SHANKEL, Laurie Stewart - 80, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, after a brief illness. Born May 26, 1927, in Hubbards, where he lived all his life, Laurie was a well-known and liked man who worked hard and loved his family greatly. They, in return, adored him. He was a son the of late Clyde and Rebecca (Dorey) Shankel. He will be always remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Beverley (Evans) Shankel; his daughters, Vicki Harnish, Janet Fraser, and Rhea Sheehy; son-in-law, Lorne Harnish; grandchildren, Laura Harnish, Stacey Harnish, Stewart Fraser, Matthew Sheehy, Mitchell Sheehy; as well as sister, Patricia (Bernard) Scanlan. He was predeceased by brother, Breton. A family funeral service was held in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Burial has taken place in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards. MYRA, Basil Terry - 65, Gold River, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at home. Born in Gold River, he was a son of Basil Myra Sr. and the late Stella (Kaizer) Myra. Basil was employed with Guildfords Ltd., Dartmouth, for over 40 years and was a lifetime member of Local 116, Heat and Frost Insulators. He is survived by his wife, the former Shirley O'Handley; son, Curtis (Crystal), Windsor Road; daughter, Colleen (Michael Westhaver), Hubbards; grandsons, Justin and Donovan Myra; granddaughter, Caillin Westhaver; sister, Gail (Rick) Naas, Garden Lots; brother, Dale (Cathy), Beech Hill Road; Wade, Halifax, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by his brother, Darrell. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards, Rev. Laura McCue Officiating. LOHNES, Keith Malcolm - 56, of Hubbards passed away Sunday, August 19, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Murray Kenneth and Flora Evangeline (Snair) Lohnes. Keith was an active member of the Black Point Fire Department serving in many positions over his 40 years service too our community. Keith was also with the Halifax Shipyards, G.C. Snair and Son Plumbing and Heating, Black Point and Armitage Hardware, Halifax. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Catherine Jeffers; sister, Sandra (Gary) Simms, Hubbards; nephew, Peter Simms, Simms Settlement; niece, Suzanne (Jeffery) Brown, Simms Settlement. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. Burial to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Hubbards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
