RUTLEDGE, James Gordon - 61, Boutilier's Point, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Gordon and Mary Ann (Mills) Rutledge. Jim was an active member of the Halifax County District No. 1 Fire Department, Black Point, and served in many positions over the years. He was also an avid sailor and worked for many years in the electronics field. He is survived by his wife, Janice Jackson; daughters, Christine, Port Hope; Jillian, Halifax; son, James, Cambridge; grandson, Jesse; brother, Robert; sister, Virginia, both of Ontario; three nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by sister, Margaret. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday in St. James Anglican Church, Boutilier's Point, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. JOLLIMORE, Nora Blanche - 68, Lower Vaughan, formerly of Mill Cove, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 5, 2007, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her son and close friends at her side. Born in Mill Cove on October 10, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Rhoda (Jollimore) Jollimore. Nora was affectingly known by family and friends as Googie. She had a great love for her dog Beauty and her two cats, Lloydie too too and Bam Bam. She enjoyed looking after her poultry and growing her garden. Nora loved fishing and being outdoors and being in the wood pile. She was always there to lend her neighbours a helping hand and never asked for anything in return, knowing that they were happy was payment enough. Nora was handy with her hands; she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and doing crafts. She was always happy and full of life and loved her country music. Nora's wishes were to have her body donated to medical science to further research, in hope that one day this will benefit others. That should tell you what kind of person she was. She is survived by companion of 25 years, Wayne Dickie; daughter, Edith; sons, Leonard, Joseph, Carl, Keith, Clifford; sisters, Elva Young, Lola Ewing (Donald); brothers, Layton, Floyd; half-sisters, Rhoda Dean (Ron), Janice, Rhea Hogue (Donald), Cora, June, Linda; half-brothers, Aaron, Veron, Albert, George; grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Christopher, Karen, Paul, Leanne, Nicholas, Trish, Christopher Harnish; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Hunter, Autumn, Zackery; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; sister, Vera in infancy; brothers, Walter, Leo, Jillian in infancy; half-sisters, Theresa, Mary, Ella, Esther, Nelly; half-brothers, Reid, Andrew; great-granddaughter, Alyssa; son-in-law, Russell. A memorial service celebrating Nora's life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbard's, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. Following the service everyone is welcome to join the family at Hubbard's Fire Hall for refreshments and fellowship. AWALT, Florence Curdolia - 83, Halifax, formerly of Boutilier's Point, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Boutilier's Point, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Minnie (Langille) Boutilier. She is survived by brother, Eric (Masie) Boutilier, Boutilier's Point; sisters, Vera (Bill) Muir-Reid, Evelyn Hartlen, both of Halifax; Marion Whiting, Fox Point; Katherine (Keith) Mahaney, Alysford, and Mona (Ralph) Boutilier, Boutilier's Point. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; brothers, Cyril, Warren, Murray, and sisters, Ella, Prena, Iona, and Lillian. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, and funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, both in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Burial to follow in Black Point Baptist Cemetery. REDMOND, Allan Fordham - 68, Seabright, passed away at home on Thursday, December 6, 2007. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Byron and Evangeline (Fordham) Redmond. Allan was one of the founding members of the Atlantic Sport Car Club, and was an avid sailor and world traveler. He retired from Maritime Tel & Tel. He then pursued his passion for cooking, using his culinary skills at the Cooper's Inn & Restaurant in Shelburne, which he co-owned with his wife, prior to returning to his home in Seabright in 2005. He was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, the former Joan E. Hall; daughters, Lisa (William) Riddle, Sunbury, Ont.; Sarah (Edward) Snowden, Hayesville, N.C.; Hannah (Nicholas) Coombes, Langkawi, Malaysia; grandchildren, Sydney, Piper, Ryelan, Lochlan, Caitlan, Madeline, and stepgrandson, Tyler. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. DOYLE, Donna Mae Margaret - 62, Halifax. God has called another one of his angels home. Donna Mae passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in Maplestone Enhanced Care, Halifax, after a long illness with multiple sclerosis. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Lola (Dooks) Shears of Musquodoboit Harbour and the late Cavin R. Shears. She is survived by her husband, Larry M.; brothers, Mark Shears, Ship Harbour; Tom Shears, Musquodoboit Harbour. The family will receive visitors 2-3 p.m., with a celebration of Donna Mae's life being held at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 15, both from the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon, Pastor Kenneth Parrett officiating. MORASH, Barry David - 55, West Dover, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2007, in West Dover as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Gilbert W. and Phyliss G. (Young) Morash. Barry worked for Coastal Restoration; he was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at the hunting camp in Kennetcook. He is survived by his son, Cory (Linda), West Dover; daughter, Carrie Anne (Scott) Shubley, Whites Lake; grandchildren, Chloe and Owen Shubley, and Alexa Morash; brothers, Ricky (Jan); Brice (Beverley, a very special sister-in-law), both of West Dover; Blaine (Gail), Indian Harbour; foster brother, Brian Mills, West Dover; sisters, Lorraine (Clifton) Morash and Valerie (Pat) Morash, both of West Dover; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Terrence Gilbert. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 27, and funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, December 28, both in Ronald A. WILLIAMS, Patricia Margaret - 86, Hubbards, passed away December 29, 2007, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Farnham, England, she was the daughter of the late John and Ada (Mansfield) Applegate. Patricia will always be remembered by her wide circle of friends, for her infectious giggle, ready laugh, ever generous hospitality and greatly admired for the courage and determination which enabled her to live life to the full, right to the very end. She is survived by her nieces, Kathie Williams, Vancouver; Christine Hallah, France; Gabrielle Richardson, England; nephew, Paul Williams, France. She was predeceased by her husband, Hilary F.C. Williams. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, Hubbards, Rev. Eric Theriault officiating. MILLER, Phyllis Marie - 74, Upper Tantallon, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, December 31, 2007, at home. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Kathleen (Pearse) Hemming. Phyllis enjoyed working as an accountant at Maritime Life and she continued to work from home while raising her family. Phyllis was a long time active member of St. Luke's United Church in Upper Tantallon. She was an active member of the UCW, taught Sunday school and was a co-leader of the Explorers Youth Group. Phyllis was a regular contributor to the Hope Cottage Sandwich Program since its inception in the late 1970s. Phyllis loved living near the water and planting her flowers. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Loyall, from whom she was inseparable; son, David (Jeanette); daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Briggs and Sandie; grandchildren, Darcy and Grant Miller; Ashley and Emma Briggs; brother, Robert (Margo) Hemming, Halifax; sister, Marjorie (Gordon) Hill, Upper Tantallon; sister-in-law, Joyce Hemming, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Donald and stepsisters, Florence Sullivan and Margaret Beazley. The family will receive visitors 2-5 p.m. Sunday January 6, from Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy's Cove Rd., Tantallon. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, in St. Luke's United Church, Upper Tantallon, Rev. Kevin Little officiating. A private committal service will follow in the family cemetery, Tantallon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
