MORASH, Robert Calvin "Cal"
MORASH, Robert Calvin "Cal" - 73, Indian Harbour, passed away February 3, 2003, in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII. Born in West Dover, Cal was a fisherman all his life, and enjoyed a good game of crib with his friends. He was a member of the St. Margaret's Bay Crib League for many years. He was very talented in woodworking; making weather vanes which can be found throughout Canada and the United States. He will be sadly missed by all his friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Ellen; sister, Jen. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22, in

FAY (Freestone), Gwendolen Isabel
FAY (Freestone), Gwendolen Isabel - Beloved wife, mother and grannie. Born May 8, 1915, in Nappan, died February 16, 2003, at home in Halifax. She was the eldest daughter of the late Rev. John H. and Gwendolen (Boyle) Freestone. She grew up in the Maritimes and Bermuda. She attended Dalhousie University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. While at Dalhousie she married Donald B. Fay, whom she married in June 1942. Prior to the Second World War she taught in one-room schools along the south shore of Nova Scotia and at Netherwood School in Rothesay, N.B. After the war she taught high school in
Port Elgin and Sackville, N.B. A lifelong music lover, she taught piano, played the flute and was a church organist and choir director. While living in Sackville, she was national treasurer of the Canadian Federation of University Women. She retired to Halifax in 1979 and spent summers at Big Island and Upper Cape, N.B. She is survived by her husband, Donald B. Fay, Halifax; sister, Anne Hutchinson (Bill), Surrey, B.C.; son, Donald F. Fay (Margaret), Halifax; daughter, Anne MacLean (Neil), Big Island; eight grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother. A memorial service will be held 2
p.m. Wednesday, February 19, in St. Matthew's United Church, Halifax, Rev. Marion Innis officiating. Family flowers only. Services have been entrusted to Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. On-line condolences may be made to: www.rawalker.ca
PARKYN, Michael
PARKYN, Michael - 65, our much-loved father and grandfather, passed away at his home in East Chester, Monday, February 17, 2003. He was a son of the late Herbert Thomas and Vera Annie Parkyn. Michael was born and lived in Portsmouth, England, until the family moved to Dartmouth in 1954. He joined the Bank of Montreal in 1955, where he was the manager of several branches in the metro area until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement he worked for H. & R. Block and The Ronald A. Walker Funeral Homes. Michael was also treasurer for several community organizations including Banook Canoe Club, Dartmouth, and
the Royal Canadian Legion, Edith Butler Branch, Chester, where he was also a dedicated volunteer. Surviving are son, Brian; daughter-in-law, Bernice, Elmsdale; daughters, Karyn, Dartmouth; Heather, Halifax; grandchildren, Shauna, Michael, Kevin and Johnathan; brothers, Russell, New Ross; David, Dartmouth; nieces, Sheri and Joanne. Visitation and Legion service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday in Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chester, Rev. Jim McCorriston officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Royal Canadian
